22/02/02 - I'm sorry to have to bring you this news, but the planned 2002 soul nights at the Sydney Globe Hotel have been CANCELLED as of now (i.e. please don't show up for the February night!).

This was due to changes and restrictions by The Globe's new management which include:
* paying for a security guard in case of "trouble"
* finishing the nights at midnight
* and no bloody talc!!

Needless to say, it's left us with a not-very-soulful-feeling and we have decided to move on out of there.
We will be in touch.
Soulfully,
Alex, Maria and Lynda

01/02/02 - It seems S*K*A*M are breaking up. Unfortunate really, they were a great band, seems ska in Sydney is not all that healthy (Real ska that is). Highlight for me was definitely the gig they played at the Art House in Melbourne.

08/01/02 - Ska Trek Episode 4 is on this Friday the 11th of January at the Cambridge Hotel in Newcastle. The boys from Melbourne 99 % Fat will be headlining along side local lads Skazoo, Rubix Cuba and Riot. Cost is a measly 5 bucks and doors open 8pm. Hope to see you all there. Brett Deaves.

07/01/02 - Happy new year and all that. Im starting to put a new issue of our print zine Skammunicator together, click here to find out all about it. Apart from that, there's not much new to tell.

16/12/01 - The dizzybeat.com trip to Melbourne was excellent. Thanks to all the hospitable folk down there, who made our 8 nights there a pleasure. Expect a large tour diary soon, unfortunately it seems I've lost all the photos taken from the trip.

16/12/01 - Melbourne band Oiska! are calling it a day. Their last gig will be the next Ska Bar @ The Arthouse, Melbourne. The current lineup had no original members, expect new projects from current members soon however.

16/12/01 - Bluekilla have a full tour diary on their site now. www.bluekilla.de We're proud to say dizzybeat.com's photos and reviews of the Sydney leg have been used as part of the diary.

20/11/01 - Sydneysiders, make sure you tune into the Bluekilla special on 2ser (107.3 fm) tonight between 1 am and 3 am. Emily will be a guest talking about her Bluekilla experience as well as an interview Mark H did with Amedeo.

20/11/01 - You want to read a review? How about a 5 page one about the greatest weekend of my life so far? German greats Bluekilla swung by here last weekend and I got to see them 3 times. Click here to read.

20/11/01 - RIP Todd Eckhardt. The Pietasters' bass player and lyricist died of a viral heart infection.

20/11/01 - Melbourne here we come! In two weeks Val, Kate, Stoot and I will be going to Melbourne for 8 days. We'll be there the same time as Sydney bands Riot City and S*K*A*M so it's going to be almost like being in Sydney. Expect a comprehensive tour diary and heaps of photos in late December.

20/11/01 - It's been a month since this page has been updated, but with the HSC all over, there's likely to be a whole lot more time put into keeping this site updated, check out the lastest updates.

18/10/01 - A huge update done today after Saturday nights Tartan Heart Ska Klub. 52 photos from the gig can be seen by clicking here. A review of the same show can be seen here. We now have around 200 photos on the site and over 50 articles.

18/10/01 - I'm not sure how new this site is, but I just heard about it. It's a site by Martin from the Last Hemeroids and Riot City called Sydney Skins - http://www.geocities.com/sydney_skins. It looks to be a decent site, and more updates are on their way. For both Oi! skins and ska skins too.

18/10/01 - As I'm about to do my finals exams of school, this will probably be the last update until mid November. Bluekilla are touring so expect a huge update after they leave Sydney. It's my birhday the weekend they are in Sydney so feel free to buy me a beer.

09/10/01 - After every article/review written from today onwards, a small form allows you to make comments. Please do so!

09/10/01 - check out Michael Spate's review of Carry on Oi! in Sydney on the 29th Sep

02/10/01 - The Bluekilla interview is finally on the site. Read it here

02/10/01 - With some of the Dizzybeat team heading down to Melbourne, Chelle from Keo Records, a Melbourne based online zine has written an excellent guide to Melbourne for us. Read it here.

02/10/01 - The next Tartan Heart Ska Klub lineup @ Sydney's Greensquare Hotel has been confirmed. Melbourne traditional ska band Oiska! will be headlining, with Backy Skank and Bagster supporting. This has the potential to be one of the best Klub's yet so make sure you make an appearence. it's on the 13th October.

27/09/01 - Our first film review is added. Click here for the review of Shaolin Temple.

25/09/01 - Dizzybeat is welcoming two new reviewers, Michael and Ben. There contributions and a Russian scene review will be coming soon, as will the addition of more reviewers to the "team".

24/09/01 - Melbourne ska band Oiska! will be coming to Sydney on the weekend of the 12-14th of October. That's Tartan Heart weekend, so I'm putting 2 and 2 together.

24/09/01 - Just letting you know that Bluekilla is now playing at Ska Trek on the 10th of November with supports Backy Skank, Bagster, Rubix Cuba and Little more than you
More info can be fond at www.deny.live.com.au/skatrek.html
Thanks
Brett Deaves (promoter)

16/09/01 - The Street music zine and online CD store Pulped seems to have been bought out by some other company. Subscribers would have known their print zine and web site has become a disgrace content and quality wise, so I suppose it's not so surprising, but is still a little disappointing. The new company want £23.50 (Aus$60) for the right to by CDs from them at wholesale price. I'll believe it when I see it.

16/09/01 - The Australian Bluekilla dates have changed, apparently the Porkers management took over at least the Sydney gigs which means Bluekilla won't be appearing at the Tartan Heart Ska Klub. Go to the Bluekilla website for the full dates.

16/09/01 - Like the new site layout? As the end of the year gets closer, the site will get bigger.

13/09/01 - Dizzybeat wishes to express it's deepest sympathies to the victims and victim's families of the US tradgedy.
