I'd heard a few songs by The Slackers before buying this album on recommendation and knew I had to get one of their full lengths. Live at Ernesto's gives you some of their best songs and one word can describe it - awesome. With the combination of ska, reggae and rocksteady this album is one for the purists. Quite a number of neo-trad ska bands have emerged in the past ten years and The Slackers play ska the way many believe it should be played - in its original form. Victor Ruggiero has an awesome voice - I've actually heard there's an all male fan club in honour of his voice, but we won't get into that. The Slackers are one of the American bands that sound as professional as they act. My favourite songs would be "Married Girl", "Soldier", "Keep Him Away" |
