To me this Sellouts album can best be described as punk/pop with horns with the notable influence of ska in some songs. It is the second release of theirs through Fork In Hand who seems to be keen in supporting the ska/punk phenomena or whatever you want to call it. The horns are powerful throughout the album - half the band must have been in the High School marching band. I'm still undecided whether I like this album, it seems the more I listen the more it is growing on me. I do like "One of A Kind" and the slower "Nobody Wins". The second half of the album is definitely better than the first half with catchier tunes. This CD is one for the newbies to the ska scene or the softer punk types and not for the ska purist and perhaps not for me. |
