Band: The Mad Dash
Album:
Convivial Times are Here EP
Reviewer:

Yet another debut disc from a young, Aussie ska band, this time The Mad Dash playing their 3rd wave style ska/pop/punk with some older influences thrown in for good measure. I was impressed with their live performance at the Iron Duke, so I bought the CD and was equally impressed. There's one word for their music - catchy! And Will on vocals is pretty damn awesome, clear and energetic. The EP starts with "Mad Dash", which is upbeat with horns bursting through at different intervals. My favourite song is "Shafty" because of its trad influences and it breaks up the fast pace of the album really well. If the Dashers were looking to give the impression of hooliganism they do so well with "Idiot Box" and "Drunk Again", but they also combine it with some talented music they play. A couple of live tracks thrown in too. Nude Up!
