I was expecting an album dominated by swing when buying this CD, but heaps of other influences are evident and I don't like it that much at all. I'll admit their other CD I own is "The Swinging Hits of" which is a combination of all their swing songs from past albums so I was surprised when Soul Caddy only had three swing songs on it. "Swinging with Tiger Woods" is a great song, and was what I'd hoped the whole album would be like. I really couldn't get over my disappointment of the lack of swing on this album which they do so well, to really enjoy the rest of the album. Other quite good songs however are "Soul Cadillac", "Uncle Ray" and "So Long Toots". I'll have to admit that I much prefer Motown releases when it comes to Soul. |
